Intro To Leadership Development

Before we jump into leadership, I just want to say once again (as you have heard it and read it many times by this point) that if you are here, you made it through a strenuous hiring process. You got selected out of hundreds of applicants.

So if you’re here, we see something in you. We believe in you. If you are entry level here or a manager of some sort, this training is for you. We are investing time and dollars into training you not just to do your job but to be a leader as well. And if you got hired, you got hired because we see leadership potential in you.

As a company we do not hire people to just fill a role and do a job. We hire people we like, see potential in, believe in and want to grow with as a company.

So as part of your training, we’re training you to lead. Lead yourself, lead clients, potential clients, a team here one day, a branch, a department, a region, etc.

Life is Leadership

IDENTITY

If you haven’t ever self-identified as a leader, we would encourage you to. Starting now. Because regardless of if you think you are or aren’t, you are a leader. We all have people in our lives whether it’s family, partners, co-workers, clients, organizations we’re involved with, your dog, etc. and if you have relationships with people or animals, you are a leader in some regard.

In all of the relationship categories above, you have some sort of responsibility or role and that makes you a leader.

THE WORLD IS HUNGRY FOR LEADERS

One of the many cool things about being a leader, learning about and developing your leadership skills is that the world is starving for leadership right now. From work, to life, relationships, government, etc. the world is starving for leadership.

The world is looking for people like you to step up and lead. Because if you look around, you’ll notice there aren’t a ton of other people stepping up to the plate.

So if not anyone else, then who? You. The world is looking for people to step up, take responsibility, set an example and lead from the front.

And the really cool thing about doing this is that as you step up and lead the world/the company/your relationships/etc. will pay you. Leading and stepping up and setting an example pays well. It pays well in terms of money, status, respect, love, goodwill, etc.

Your Role In This

Assuming you’re here and want to do more than just do a job and get paid a wage, you probably have bigger dreams. You probably want to grow in your position and get promoted and take more responsibility, help more people, grow as a person, make more money, etc. If this is the case, then as you go through this and during your tenure here, we suggest that you take it upon yourself to study leadership outside of this training and come back to this over and over again.

If you want to move into a leadership role here, it is your job to get prepared for taking on a leadership role by studying the role you want to be in. That way, by the time you get there, the process in getting you trained is smooth.

A Challenge For You Through This Training

As you go through this training about leadership, you will probably read things that may not directly apply to you if you are a Dog Pro, Eval Pro, Gatekeepers, Etc.

As you go through this though, I challenge you and ask yourself and think, “How can I apply this to my life?” Whether that is you thinking how to apply this to your family, church, non-profit you volunteer at, hobbies you have, friendships, relationships, etc.

Because as you go through this if you are just thinking about this in terms of your job or that a leader “manages” people, then you will think some doesn’t apply to you when it in fact does. But it’s up to us as we go through training to look at it through the proper lens.
